Market Update

2009 Season Begins June 2nd

We’re back!

The 2009 season of the Lloyd Farmers Market begins on June 2, 2009. The market will run June 2-September 29 from 10am-2pm. We’ve some old and new faces at the market this year. Here is this year’s vendor lineup:

Greenville Farm – eggs, prunes, hazelnuts, berries, vegetables, jams
Katie’s Gluten Free Home Baking
Little Pots and Pans – savory tarts and salads
Packer Orchards – tree fruit (apples pears, cherries, peaches, nectarines), pear-sweetened cookies and pies, jams, preserves
Radicle Pastures – strawberries, vegetables, herbs *certified organic*
Rogue Creamery – artisan cheeses
Savory et Sweet – crepes
Sulina and Bay’s Farm vegetables, strawberries, assorted herbs
Think Unique Gardens – vegetable starts, herb starts, vegetables
Unger Farm – Strawberries, raspberries, blueberries, grapes
Xiong Farmer flowers

So what is coming on June 2nd? This time of year, that answer changes by the day. The cold days back in early April slowed things down a lot. Most berry growers didn’t think they would have much (outside of their covered crops) until mid-June. This warm spell is speeding things up. Greenville Farm will have strawberries on Tuesday. Unger Farm expect to be at the market on June 9th *TOMORROW* and Sulina and Bay’s Farm is planning on starting June 16th. Unique Gardens will have plant starts on the 2nd. Packer Orchards expects start harvesting cherries in two weeks. If this warm spell continues that harvest could start sooner.

I’m talking to farmers every day and will be updating the post as I receive updated information. Enjoy the weekend and we’ll see you on Tuesday!
