Market Update

August 11 2009 Market Preview

Greenville Farms and Sulina and Bay’s Farm surprised us (well surprised me) with corn last week. There should be a lot more this week. Peaches, nectarines, and apricots should all be readily available. Cherry season is ending. There may be some available this week. Blueberries, blackberries, raspberries and strawberries should be available as well. You should also find a nice selection of lettuces and other greens, beets, green beans, eggplants, daikon, carrots, cucumbers and other vegetables.

Greenville Farms and RedTree Farm are have both started new CSAs. RedTree Farm has a winter share CSA starting this fall. Greenville Farms will have a U-pick CSA starting in 2010. Greenville Farm has a certified kitchen available for CSA members to can and freeze the harvest. Both now have flyers available at the market. Talk to Kirk at RedTree Farm or Louann at Greenville Farm to learn more.
