Market News April 20 2010 Market

I don’t know about you, but I took advantage of the nice weather and worked in the garden for a good part of the weekend. I’m glade Suzanne from THINK Unique Gardens is back. I’ve a few plants that didn’t make it through last December’s cold snap.Little Pots and Pans is still on their biweekly schedule and are off this week. Fressen, Savory et Sweet and Bigfoot Bread Co. will all be at the market this week. Nature’s Choice will have a nice selection of wild and cultivated mushrooms, Greenville Farm will have eggs, prunes, hazelnuts and jams. Rick Steffen Farm will have its usual great array of produce and flowers.

Here’s this week’s expected availability list:

Rick Steffen Farm – asparagus, onions, shallots, scallions, leeks, potatoes, carrots, beets, kohlrabi, spinach, swiss chard, miner’s lettuce, broccoli, broccoli raab (rapini), turnips, tulips, irises and daffodils.

Packer Orchards – OUT BACK MAY 4.

Greenville Farms – prunes, hazelnuts, eggs and jams.

Nature’s Choice – fresh mushrooms (shiitake, maitake, black trumpets, morels (maybe)), dried mushrooms, nettles, miner’s lettuce (maybe), mushroom salt, honey, chestnuts, huckleberry jam.

Bigfoot Bread – toasting bread, pitas & flatbreads, pita chips, cinnamon rolls, cornbread, apple kuchen (maybe).

Fressen Artisan Bakery – Austrian and German breads and pastries including boerek, mueslibrot, volkornbrot, pretzels, bavarian croissants, granola, fruit/almond danishes and brioches.
