Packer Orchards brought a happy surprise last week with their first cherries. They will have a lot more this week along with cookies, hand pies and jams. Unger Farms will have a mix of Albion and Hood strawberries. Greenville Farm will have raspberries and Shuksan strawberries while Radicle Pastures will be bringing certified organic Totem strawberries. Rick Steffen Farm will have a wide selection of fruits and vegetables including kohlrabi, chard, spinach, onions, and a variety of berries. Osmogaia is taking this week off. The ground is finally dry enough to plow.
As for prepared foods, Little Pots and Pans should be bringing more Strawberry Basil Goat Cheese Tarts. It was quite a hit at all the markets last week. (Full disclosure – I’ve eaten 3 in the past week.) They should have Spring Pea w/Pistou (French Basil Pesto) Soup as well. Bigfoot Bakery will be out this week due to illness but expects to be back next week.
Here’s the rundown for all vendors this week:
Rick Steffen Farm – onions, shallots, scallions, leeks, potatoes, carrots, kohlrabi, spinach, swiss chard, strawberries, raspberries, blackberries.
Greenville Farms – strawberries (Shuksan), raspberries (probable), prunes, hazelnuts, cookies, eggs and jams.
Nature’s Choice – fresh mushrooms (shiitake, maitake, porcini, morels), dried mushrooms, mushroom salt, honey, chestnuts, huckleberry jam.
Bigfoot Bread – toasting bread, pitas & flatbreads, pita chips, cinnamon rolls, cornbread, apple kuchen (maybe), Good Morning Bar. OUT – BACK NEXT WEEK
Little Pots and Pans – savory tarts (including gluten free), tartlets, salads. including Strawberry Basil Goat Cheese Tart, Spring Pea with Pistou Soup.
Fressen Artisan Bakery – Austrian and German breads and pastries including boerek, mueslibrot, volkornbrot, pretzels, bavarian croissants, granola, fruit/almond danishes and brioches.
THINK Unique Gardens: vegetable starts (including tomatoes, cucumbers, peppers, chard), hardy perennials. OUT THIS WEEK – Suzanne needs to finish planting. She’ll be back next week.
Osmogaia: spinach, chards, tatsoi, bok choi, kale, collards, herb starts (maybe). OUT – BACK NEXT WEEK
Packer Orchards: pear juice sweetened cookies and hand pies.
Radicle Pastures (certified organic): strawberries (Totem).
Rogue Creamery: cheeses, butter.
Xiong Farmer: Flowers.

With all the berries finally coming in, it’s easy to buy more than you can eat. Cooking Up A Story, an online television show and blog about people, food, and sustainable living located in Oregon, has a great video post called Small Batch Strawberry Jam.
