Market Update September 28 2010

September 27, 2010

So autumn officially begins and the temperatures go up to 80 degrees. Weatherwise, the whole year has been a rollercoaster ride.

The remaining berries will enjoy the warm spell. There will be strawberries tomorrow. Blueberries are possible but you’ll need to get to the market at 10 am to insure getting a pint or two (if there are any at all). Lettuce, arugula and other greens will be plentiful. Wild mushrooms (lobster, matsutake and chanterelle (white and yellow) mushrooms should be readily available. Buttercup, butternut and delicata squashes should be available this week

Vendor update – Little Pots and Pans has a large special order this week. They won’t be at the market on September 28th but do expect to be back on October 5th. The Hummus Stop will start attending the Tuesday session this week. Nature’s Choice has expanded their product offerings to include sprouts.

This Thursday is the last Thursday session for 2010. But don’t forget, we go year-round on Tuesdays. Nearly all the Thursday only vendors (Sulina and Bay’s Farm, Ammie’s Goodies, Nectar Coffee and The Hummus Stop) will move to Tuesday for the winter. As mentioned earlier, The Hummus Stop begins this week. Osmogaia will be returning later in the fall.

Here’s Tuesday’s vendor rundown:
