Today October is here, and with the change in the seasons comes a special guest vendor today – Persephone Farm! You may already know Persephone Farm if you’ve been to the Hollywood or PSU farmers markets, where they’ve been longtime vendors. Persephone is a beautiful 13-acre organic farm outside Lebanon, OR, who grow their produce “outside in the wind, rain and sun”, without season extension techniques like covered hoophouses. This means that their harvest season peaks a little later than most local farmers, and early autumn finds them with a glut of harvested produce. More the better for us; come on by the market and share in their seasonal abundance!
In other news, Kiyokawa Orchards still peaches and nectarines, and they look great! Unger Farms still has grapes as well as blueberries and strawberries; last week the grapes sold out quickly, so be sure to come early if you want some! Naked Acres Farm is back in the market today; Brandwein Meadows Lamb and Sweet Leaf Farm will return next week.
Right now it’s fairly dry out, and even drier underneath the gazebo! See you at the market!
